Dr. Gary Rand Invited to Vietnam to Help Design Environmental Sciences Graduate Program

SEAS’ faculty member, Dr. Gary M. Rand was honored by an invitation to travel to Hanoi, Vietnam February 14-18, 2011 by the Hanoi University of Science. Dr. Rand was asked to visit along with Prof. Stephen Klaine of Clemson University to discuss the design, organization and logistics of a scientific training program for graduate students in Environmental Sciences. Dr. Rand was instrumental in the development and organization of the First International Conference on Environmental Pollution, Restoration and Management, which took place March 1-5, 2010 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and from which the plans to create an Educational Training program for Environmental Science graduates first arose. The Second International Conference on Environmental Pollution, Restoration and Management is being planned for 2013 in Hanoi and Dr. Rand will again be an important organizer for the conference.
