FIU's Les Standiford Discusses Flagler's Railroad on WLRN's "Under the Sun"

January 2012 marks the centennial anniversary of Henry Flagler's Over-Sea Railroad. After seven years of construction, during which five hurricanes threatened the project, Henry Flagler pulled into Key West in his private railcar for the first time on January 22, 1912.
In his book Last Train to Paradise: Henry Flagler and the Spectacular Rise and Fall of the Railroad that Crossed an Ocean, FIU Creative Writing Director Les Standiford chronicles this ambitious endeavor. In an interview on WLRN's South Florida series Under the Sun Standiford discusses the history of Flagler and his railroad with Books & Books owner, Mitchell Kaplan.
