A few weeks ago, FIU had the pleasure of hosting 200 participants from institutions across the nation, as well as high school students from MAST Academy at Homestead, to the 2013 Annual Biomedical and Comparative Immunology Symposium.

Now in its fifteenth year, BCI addresses recent advances in our understanding of diverse biological systems and phenomena focusing on cellular and molecular mechanisms governing fundamental processes of organismal development, reproduction, cellular differentiation, disease, growth and survival. As in previous years, the participants working with a variety of vertebrate (including human and other mammals) and invertebrate organisms found the plenary and other presentations informative and stimulating. Please find a copy of the program attached.

The faculty and student presentations were excellent. It is my pleasure to announce the student recipients of the awards for ‘Outstanding Scientific Poster Presentations’ and ‘Outstanding Scientific Oral Presentations’.
